MIL-STD-810 is widely used in the defence community to provide confidence in a specific material or systems, such that the product will perform properly in the operational environment. Designers and users have common understanding that products will eventually fail, however, it is important for them to recognise the ‘weakest link’ in the system, so that they can modify their design, making the products more reliable.

The intention of these test standards serves as a guide to define environmental stresses and its influences, the purpose of each test, the best technical approach and equipment required to perform the tests, including tailoring and replicating the effects of environments on material/systems.

The 3-day course will share a brief history of MIL-STD-810; what came before it, how it has changed through the decades, what it means to be a "living document", and how a Change Notice is prepared. The trainer will also discuss the various test methods required, highlighting on the various versions of MIL-STD-810, lists of limitations, the test sequence, and the type of equipments required to run the test. Other modules include the advantages and disadvantages of using MIL-STD-810, and whether there are other specifications available in environmental testing.
