Radars are extremely complex electromagnetic systems that consist of different sub systems that require detail considerations during the design process. A lot of study and effort has gone into developing design principles that meet conflicting hardware and system requirements, like the maximizing the detection range and minimizing the noise and power requirements.
The 2 main primary factors that will affect the radar performance, one of it is the noise in the receiver system. Although noise sources are unavoidable and generally uncontrollable, it is still important to address this issue during design process as it degrades radar performance. Another important factor lies in the transmitter stability that will prevent unwanted signal from interfering with the other frequencies produced by weak moving targets.
In this 3 days course, trainer will provide an in depth discussion on the pertinent issues in radar designs and potential solutions. This course also aims to cover topics, such as noise, radar clutter, clutter filtering principals, radar measurement and multiple target tracking. Discussion on how airborne radar will differ from surface radar will also be presented in class. Real life case studies will also be included in the class to provide the participants with a more interactive and engaging learning session.
