Mil-Std-810, now in its “H” revision, is the premier U.S. Standard for environmental testing of military hardware.  Its test rationale, guidance, and procedural methods have formed the foundation for many of the International Standards used round the world.  The Standard pioneered the use of a flexible engineering approach to develop and implement effective test plans.  It also provides a comprehensive set of environmental test methods roughly split between climatic and dynamic environments. Students will participate in individual and group activities to learn how to interpret and effectively use the Standard. 

• Understand and quantify environmental risk
• Develop a product life cycle environmental profile (LCEP)
• Develop a test and evaluation master plan (TEMP)
• Gain understanding to thermal and corrosion methods, categories, and procedures
• Learn shock and vibration methods, categories, and procedures
• Understand combined environment methods and procedures
• Provide acceptable data quality, quantity, and format
• Accelerate test programs using valid engineering approaches
• Identify test facility requirements for each method
• Obtain insights to success and failure criteria
• Develop an effective test report
• Effectively manage the test program
• Address specific test issues sponsored by the class
